A Baby Shower fit for a Prince
So while a lot of my American friends were celebrating the 4th of July I was here in Canada celebrating with my closest ladies the future Baby human that is going to make his appearance in the near future. His name being…. Well I am not going to tell you that, yet.
My mom did the amazing job of hosting this shower for me and I told her from the beginning that I just wanted something small and intimate with friends (I am that person that will get an anxiety attack when I am around too many people, this is not be being dramatic either- just not that person). She held it at Colette Grand Café in Toronto and it was perfect! When I walked in it felt like I was in a café in Paris (UGH, no I haven’t been to Paris but I am sure it would totally feel like that).
I was blown away with the private little area we had along with the most adorable Parisian theme, the perfect baby blue colours everywhere and the quote “Bonjour Bebe” to add that extra sparkle of perfection. My breath was taken away. The décor was classy as ever, a dresser with Eiffel Towers and stuffed animals, along with baby blue and champagne hydrangeas along the table…because flowers add something to every scene.
There was a signature blue drink, containing champagne and gin, served to everyone upon arrival and then we all sat at one large table for everyone to enjoy the pre fixed menu, which was organized for the day, along with set seating arrangements so everyone could get to know one another. That meant a lot to me because it’s nice for my friends to all get along and meet one another. While I chomped down on a goat cheese soufflé and chicken for the second course, my ladies were passed around an amazing crisp rose wine which was perfect for the hot sunny summer day (I do not want to jynx myself, but when it comes to events aka our wedding, bridal shower, bachelorette, engagement party and baby shower I have a gift of getting the BEST WEATHER EVER).
My three lovelies Amanda (my bestie of 16 years and maid of honour), Calli (my sista) and Anna (also my bestie and like a sister to me) got everyone involved with three adorable games – Baby Shower BINGO, Baby Shower Price is Right Addition and Celebrity Baby Name Game (of course the last game was a need, me and celebrities do you people even know me?). Winners took home something from my favourite store EVER, Anthropologie, and my mom picked the most amazing prizes, she is lucky I didn’t take them and run before the games even started.
Everyone was offered coffee and tea, and a dessert table was brought out with all of my favourites, we’re talking shortbreads, chocolate oatmeal cookies, tarts, blue “baby” vanilla cookies along with a cake made by my favourite bakery “The Wedding Cake Shoppe” that literally made me want to pass out it was so perfect.
We got spoiled to pieces with so many amazing gifts for the little man it was insane and I cannot begin to tell you what a special day it was for me and the growing being! On the way out everyone left with a vintage looking mug from Anthropologie with their first initial on it. Inside was baby blue and champagne macarons as a little surprise! Thanks again Momma Dukes for what was a day that will forever be remembered.
