Georgia’s Easy You Had Me at Cinnamon Buns.
The perfect and easy weekend treat for the family!
What You Need:
Buns
-1 pack Instant yeast
-1/3 Cup Unsalted Butter
-1/2 Cup Granulated Sugar
-1 Cups Milk
-2 Eggs
-4 + 1/4 Cups Flour
-A Dash Of Salt
Filling
-1/4 Cup Flour (for table top)
-1/4 Cup Unsalted or Salted Butter (warmed)
-1 Cup Brown Sugar
-2 1/2 Tbsp Cinnamon
Frosting
-1/2 Cup Cream Cheese (room temp)
-2 Cups Icing Sugar
-1 Stick of Butter (8 Tbsp)
-1/2 Tsp Pure Vanilla Extract
Let’s Start with the dough:
1.) Warm your milk (by warm I mean lukewarm) and add in your instant yeast to the milk. Set aside (no more then 5 minutes).
2.) With your mixer combine sugar, unsalted butter, salt, eggs, and flour (slowly) until combined.
3.) Using a dough hook on your mixer add in the yeast and milk. Mix until combined. Remember if dough is a bit sticky that’s okay, doesn’t need to be hard dough.
4.) Oil a separate bowl, place dough in bowl and cover with cling warm. Make sure bowl is somewhere warm (I turn on the the oven at 350 and place it on the oven).
5.) Take a break. Pour yourself a glass of wine and let rise for 1 1/2- 2 hours.
Roll Out The Buns
1.) In a bowl combine your sugar and cinnamon.
2.) Make sure you have 1/4 cup flour and frequently flour table and rolling pin so your dough doesn’t stick.
3.) Roll the dough until about 18 inches long by 14 inches wide (this also could very but just make sure it is approximately 1/4 inch in thick max).
4.) Warm up butter and spread all over the dough over the dough.
5.) The fun part now is you have to sprinkle the sugar mix all over the surface of the dough (use all press out any clumps).
6.) Tightly and carefully start rolling the dough from the long ends. Cut about 1 1/2 inches apart (for smaller ones just 1 inch). (Hint: use an extra sharp knife or i use fishing or wire string).
7.) Place in buttered baking pan. Set aside for 20 minutes allowing them to rise more.
8.) Place in oven at 350 for 15-20 minutes.
Meanwhile while baking… the Frosting:
1.) While your cinnamon buns are baking make the icing.
Combine all ingredients and mix!
2.) Remove cinnamon buns from the over and spread icing all over them. Even through the sides so it gets all over.
3.) Serve warm.
