Georgia’s Spicy Turkey Chili Recipe

If you didn’t realize it yet, yes its winter, and you know on these cold days there is nothing better than comfort food! I have decided to share with you one of mine and Luke’s favourite recipes to enjoy after our minis go to bed all while binging on the latest Netflix series! And you know me – it wouldn’t be a recipe without a touch of Maple Leaf Foods!

Georgia’s Spicy Turkey Chili Recipe

What You Need:

  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 pound Maple Leaf Foods extra lean ground turkey
  • 3 tbsp tablespoons chili powder
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp salt and pepper
  • 1 (28-ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 (15 oz) cans dark red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • For topping: cheese, jalalpenos, tomato, red onion

What To Do:

-Add oil in a large pot on medium high heat and once heated saute your onion, garlic for 6 minutes, stirring frequently to ensure nothing is sticking to the pot.

-Next up add in you Maple Leaf Foods Ground Turkey and break up the meat and cook until it is no longer pink.

-Time for the spices!!!  Add in you chili powder (if you want something less spicy only add 2 tbsp chili powder), cayenne pepper oregano, salt and pepper. Continue to stir for 1 minute!

-Whats next you ask? Time to add in your diced tomatoes, chicken broth and kidney beans. Once at a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 45 minute. This time could range 15 mins earlier or later but its more based on your preferance.

– Now the rest of up to you- taste your chili and you can play with the spices to you liking or leave it as is!

-For toppings we add tomatos, red onion, cheddar cheese and jalapenos (ONLY IF YOU WANT THE EXTRA SPICE)

Serving Size:

Makes 6 servings (and is amazing when you have left overs the next day).

I can’t wait for you guys to try it! Once you do let me know what you think and please remember to send me Netflix recos!

Happy Eating and remember- Maple Leafs Foods is my go to for Ground Turkey! I find thats what makes this recipe that much better!
