Our Trip with Air Canada Vacations x Beaches Ocho Rios
Let me tell you about a little place called Ocho Rios in Jamaica. Last Month our little family took a little four-night visit to Beaches Ocho Rios courtesy of Air Canada Vacations and it was unforgettable! there was so much we did and so much for the kids, we just can’t wait to go back.
Our room was great and had the most beautiful walk out terrace overlooking the ocean. Waking up in the morning and having breakfast with this view was one of my favourite parts of the vacation. The resort itself had so much to offer from kids to adults, from restaurants to activities. For us adults and you golfers out there you have to try out the golf course which is offered complementary to all Sandals and Beaches guests. The course is 700 hundred feet above sea level in the hills, so for you avid golfers out there, good luck! And if golf isn’t your cup of tea then you could always enjoy a spa treatment or message at Red Lane Spa! I got a full body message and it was heaven, or you could enjoy endless water activities at the beach! I mean, its always nice to get a little time away from the little ones and have an hour or so just to yourself! Or if you need more time to yourself you can just drop them off at the Kids Camp, leave them there all day, and pick them up before dinner. Most kids never want to leave Kids Camp.
We also got a lifetime experience. Again, thanks to Beaches and Air Canada Vacations. First off, have you ever released a baby turtle into the Ocean? I assume not, but let me tell you how amazing these moments were! We were able to enjoy the first moments of over 200 baby turtles life, we washed them, so they were clean and their eyes were clear of sand then we set them free on their journey to run down the beach and into the sea. Knowing that Sandals Organization has been able to provide such a success in preserving the lives for baby turtles was so great! Typically, less then 1% of turtle eggs will actually become adults, but when Sandals protects the nest and releases the turtles its raises to about 5% or more! For our little family this is something we will never forgot.
While on the resort, let me tell you my boys had the most amazing time ever! Even though they are little and couldn’t enjoy the basketball courts as much as we would’ve liked, or the X-Box lounge, there was no shortage of keeping them busy. They love Sesame Street and all the characters to see thing character parade is a hit and would be with anyone. All the local talent in each parade is so cool to see and Mason and Asher were thrilled when they received little balloon swards! They were also in love with the Sesame Street Character breakfast, which is another thing all parents with little ones should take advantage of. Meeting the characters, taking pictures and dancing is the best way to start of a day! By far though, their favourite place to be was the water. The Ocean was beautiful and I could just lay there all day with the boys playing in the sand, but Mason was all about the Pirates Island Waterpark! Mason loves waterslides and if he could go on all of them I swear he would! One thing I love about the waterpark is its definitely for all ages! There’s a kiddy pool which is adorable. It has little chairs for your kids to layback enjoy a drink and act like an adult, at least for a few minutes. The waterslides were perfect and just the right size for Mason and Asher. So, it was nice they had a range that all kids could enjoy. Masons favourite was the Green, Blue and Yellow slides and Asher just preferred to play with the water rather than going down all the slides. Maybe next time for Asher!
Once done at the pool it was time to eat and Beaches Ocho Rios has no shortage of food to offer! We enjoyed as much as we could at the BBQ Park, which includes patties, hamburgers, fries and snacks. From quick serve to sit down. Of course, there the buffet too at Bayside! For Mason and Asher, they couldn’t get enough popcorn and add in a slushy or two. For me it was the beef patties or the jerk burger. For dinner, whether it was at Neptune’s, which offered amazing seafood and Mediterranean or some delicious Italian at Venetian or French Cuisine at Parisienne I loved them all. I would say Parisienne was a favourite for our family!
Another amazing experience provide by the Sandals Foundation was being able to visit a local school – Boscobel Primary School – which receives funding from Sandals. We were able to bring some school supplies and activity books and interact with the cutest little boys and girls. They were so happy to meet us Canadians and loved talking and learning about us. Meeting with these little boys and girls was definitely a fun time and Mason loved every minute of interacting with them! We has so much fun and are so grateful for this Sandals experience.
