Visting Florida? Tips, Tricks and More
Planning a family vacation is just so much more fun when you have so much to do and places to see. With our recent family trip to Florida we visited Orlando, Space Coast, then Kissimmee and I couldn’t believe how much fun we all had.
Starting our trip in Orlando at Lake Buena Vista Resort and Spa was fabulous, the boys fell in love right away with the resort and especially with the shipwreck pool. Let me tell you it was definitely not easy to get them off the resort and over to some of our planned activities. The boys had so much fun playing mini golf at Pirates Cove Adventure Goal, then stopping for some ice cream and heading back to the resort for some more pool time. In Orlando, we also took a visit to the Museum of Illusions where we all took some really cool photos and of course the Crayola Experience in The Florida Mall. Having all these great places so close to our resort was great for everyone and best of all, tired the boys out so they could get some great sleep in.
Then let me start by telling you a little about Space Coast, which was a hit for both parents and our kids. Visiting Cocoa Pier was our first stop, a beautiful little lunch on the pier followed by some relaxation on the beach, I mean I couldn’t ask for more! There are tons of shop and restaurants to keep everyone busy. This was followed by an amazing evening with Cocoa Beach Dolphin Tours Sunset Tour! Captain Kurt and Dianeknow everything about all the animals and we were even lucky enough to catch a dolphin sighting! The kids loved see all the different birds and other animals, so it was a great time. Should I add that the adults can bring their own drinks aboard which was an added bonus.
Our next day was a full day trip to the Kennedy Space Center and let me tell you, this is definitely something you NEED to see! The boys were in awe as soon as they entered the Visitor Complex and saw the Rocket Garden which consisted of actual rockets! Then the boys had the chance to build their own Lego and LEGO Build to Launch area followed by so many other activities and of course a visit to the Apollo/Saturn V Center where they learned even more about passed and future space travel. Mason’s convinced he will have a career in space exploration!
Our final day was a quick visit to Bravard Zoo where we had our fingers crossed that the boys would be able to feed some giraffes, but unfortunately it wasn’t their lucky day. But, seeing all the other animals at the zoo definitely made up for it.
After our space-tacular visit to Space Coast we landed in Kissimmee at one of the most amazing vacation homes any child or adult could wish for! Thanks to Jeeves Vacation Rentals our home was out of this world. An outdoor pool, movie theatre, Star Wars themed kids room and games room in the garage. There was no shortage of fun at the house and I didn’t even mention the water park on site which we had access to. These rentals homes are breathtaking, but of course we had some adventures planned in Kissimmee. I’m not sure if everyone realizes that Kissimmee is so close to Walt Disney World we made sure we visited Disney Springs. Having dinner at any one of their countless restaurants is always amazing and then be prepared to open your purse because the shopping is second to none. But, the main reason for our visit to Disney Springs was to see Drawn to Life by Cirque Du Soliel. The performers in this amazing show were unbelievable, I actually think my mouth was in awe the whole show. Flying acrobats, unicycles, Russian swings and overall an amazing storyline that truly brings Disney animation to Life.
Our next day, was another fun filled adventure to LEGOLAND which was about a half hour drive from Kissimmee. Let me tell you this was a whole day full of fun, including rides, and the boys favourite was the water park. LEGOLAND is definitely a must visit so plan out a whole day and enjoy!
Finally, our last day was a relaxing day at the house enjoying the pool and games of course followed by a great dinner at Sickies Garage Burgers and Brews just down the road. Sickies offers 50 different burgers and 50 different brews so its perfect for that wind down meal at the end of a long vacation day.
Once again we had a blast in Florida and thanks to Visit Florida for such an amazing time and, of course, we all cannot wait to head back down to Florida and see what’s next! So for your next family trip whether your spending just a few days, a week or longer be sure to keep Florida in mind. Its just a quick two and a half hour flight, no time change, and has so much to offer.
